USB Flash Drive These great little devices are wonderful. Are you wasting a lot of CD's & DVD's transferring curriculum or presentations from work to home and back or over to your children's church? Pick up one of these little hard drives that plugs into your computer and let's you easily transfer computer files or media. You can easily move full media presentations on one of these little drives with their size easily being 1 or 2 GB. Hand Held Computer (pocket pc, palm pilot, etc.) Use a handheld to keep up with appointments, record notes, teachers who tell you they won't be teaching next week or next month. Keep up with birthdays and other special days at all times. You can even down load entire books, like your favorite version of the Bible. You don't have to have the top of the line to benefit from all of the above features. Most all units have the same basic functions. Smart phones have really replaced these, but work the same way but now you also have a phone! Digital Cameras Once you go digital, you may never go back. You can easily shoot 1000 pictures on with just one storage card? Never pay another developing charge. I can take hundreds of pictures at events and programs and not feel I've wasted money when only a handful of pictures are good. Just down load them onto your computer and you can email them to parents, print them on cards for volunteers, burn them on CD-R's for kids or build PowerPoint slides to share with the congregation. I use our digital video camera to create fun, lesson specific videos. We also record everything and I can then build commercials or presentations with great quality video to promote or recruit workers. We've had video from our missionaries in Africa emailed to us and then we've used them in presentations for the entire church. Your digital camera will likely plug into your computer by a firewire port and work with your video editing program. Digital video cameras, like digital still cameras, continue to improve and get more and more inexpensive. MP3 Player/IPOD - there are all sizes, shapes, colors of mp3 players and IPODs on the market. Basically, you can download songs from your computer (songs from CDs you own, or mp3's you've legally downloaded or those you've made yourself) to your player. Depending on the amount of storage of your player, you can literally travel with hundreds of CDs all in something the size of a stick of gum. Now, you can listen to this on your headphones, but you can also plug your player into a sound system and instantly you have your CD library available for whatever audio need you may have. IPODs and similar player can also play videos. I have my entire Christian music library and Kid music library on my IPOD video and also have shown videos for class illustrations straight from my IPOD. All my music for events and activities now run from my little IPOD. If you have one of those mini amps (Honeytone) which run on a 9-volt battery and your IPOD, then you have a small, portable, battery powered sound system. more coming soon.
