My first real, public magic show

I have been using gospel magic off and on in my ministry for years. I have found that illusions really get people's attention and can really punctuate a message.

The props I have used the most are change devices such change bags, a lotta bowl, and some specialty gospel illusions from creators like Laflin Magic. Fire tricks are always fun, but be sure you really read the instructions, practice safety and pray (you don't want a flaming thumb, like I did a few years back). There are some great specialty gospel illusions out there that make a great impact and are pretty easy to do. The matching animal card trick from Laflin magic is a good one! My all time favorite silk set is the Sad and Happy Clown.

My advice is to go to a conference or magic shop were you actually seen the illusions demonstrated and then shown how it's done. It's one thing to see the picture, but to actually see the trick done goes a long way. Places where I've seen magic taught include conferences like the Children's Pastor's Conference, performing arts workshops by One Way Street and then classes and workshops from area magic stores or magicians.

This page will be a gateway to exploring Gospel Magic and hopefully connecting you to resources, information and ideas.
