We are now using a HP Media Center computer in our Children's Church. It's great! Not only does it
have a DVD/CD burner, tons of input/output options, but it also has a remote
control! It's a dream running multi-media during children's church. We are
running the Media Center edition of Microsoft Windows XP and really enjoy the
multi-media options it has.
Laptop Computer
These are great when traveling or presenting. They are getting better and
smaller all the time. Of course, for the price you can get a much more powerful
desktop machine, but they're hard to pack up and take to a hotel or summer camp.
My newest laptop has built in wireless networking. All I have to do it turn it
on and I can hit the net in my office or at a hotel. It also has an S-Video
output that will let me out put to a TV in my classrooms.
Extras for you Computer
Firewire Port - If you computer is a few years old, you
may need to add a firewire port to your computer to upload video from your
digital video camera. Most of your newer computers will have these already on
them. The ports are pretty cheap (compared to other items) and simple to
install.
DVD Burner - Now most, if not all, of your newer
computers (and many older computers) come standard with a CD Burner. Many
new computers also come standard with a DVD Burner. If your computer doesn't and
you want the option to create video DVDs to show, you can pick up a burner
easily for under $100.00 here in the states. Again, burners are fairly easy to
install.
