DVD Player.
The prices on DVD players on dirt cheap here in Texas. Read the box and find a
good one that will a variety of formats like CD-Rs and MP3s.
Video Projectors
I'm no expert on projectors, I just use the one our church has. One way they
vary is by Lumens, or how bright they project. This really matters when you are
trying to project in a room with lots of light, especially rooms with lots of
windows. We use our projector with computers, DVD players, VCRs and video
cameras. Be sure you get one that will let you hook up a computer and video
components using a S-Video cable for best quality or RCA cables like you have on
your VCR. The prices on these are really starting to drop, plus, they're getting
smaller and smaller.
Teleprompter
If you are shooting a lot of video where your need people to read their scripts
but they can't memorize them and you don't want them holding the scripts in the
shot, you should check out this great piece of software. This is the same idea
as the professional studies where the lines scroll by as they read. I use a
laptop for my puppet shots since I'm out of the shot, and I export the signal to
a TV for live character shots. By placing your video camera directly above (or
below) the screen, it appears that the actor is looking at the camera, where
they are actually reading their lines from the screen. There are several
programs out there, but we are using software called
Prompt. It's around $44.00
and well worth the money!
Digital Juice - If you
aren't familiar with this company - get ready! They've got some of the best
stuff out there. I've got several of their items and they are top notch. Plus,
you'll not find any better deals anywhere. I bought an entire six dvd package
with animals, pictures, music and video for the cost of using one song twice
from other companies. Everything is royalty free after purchase and you'll be
surprised how often you see their products used in other's videos and print
media.
